BROADWAY DREAMS NZ

A week of training.
A lifetime of impact.

Broadway Dreams is a charitable trust in Aotearoa / New Zealand. We strive to provide youth and young adults from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with  performance training, life skills building and mentorship opportunities.

Each January we provide a week long professional performing arts program held in Auckland. Led by current and former Broadway performers, directors, choreographers and creatives, participants train using Broadway material, gaining direct exposure to international industry standards.

Designed for performers who are serious about pursuing performing arts professionally or ready to take their training to the next level.

If you’re passionate, committed, and ready to work at a professional pace, this is for you.

Local stage, global opportunity.

Our program sharpens your skills in acting, singing and dance in a focused, high-level environment.

Spend a week immersed in masterclasses and workshops across acting, vocal coaching, dance and performance concluding with a live showcase.

From this, three to four participants are selected to represent New Zealand at the Broadway Dreams Global Showcase in New York City, where performers from all eight countries train and perform in front of casting directors, agents, and international industry professionals.

More than training — this is confidence, community and career momentum.

ABOUT US

We clear the path between talent and opportunity.

Founded in the United States by Annette Tanner, an internationally respected Kiwi casting director with over 23 years’ experience, Broadway Dreams operates annually across eight countries worldwide. In 2018, the NZ programme was set up by  Joyce Leung-Scott and Patrick Kelly (current Executive Director).

We have an additional mission to make musical theatre accessible to our Tangata Whenua, Pasifika and other young people through scholarships who traditionally have been underrepresented in the musical theatre world internationally and in Aotearoa. We strive to infuse our program with Te Ao Māori and other Pasifika cultural performance arts to include all cultural traditions in Aotearoa.

New Zealand is the only Broadway Dreams programme globally that receives no government funding or major sponsorships, which impacts our ability to provide scholarships to our talented performers. If you’d like to support Broadway Dreams NZ, we’d love to hear from you.
